What you can feel in CS2
Each of these can vibrate, shock, ramp up, pulse in waves or open a mystery box. Or do nothing at all; you turn on only what you want.
You
- Taking damage
- Death
- Flashed
- On fire
Your plays
- Kill
The match
- Bomb planted
- Round start
- Round end, won or lost
How it knows what happened
CS2 can send its game state to a program on your PC by itself; Valve built this for tools, overlays and RGB lighting. sideQuest gives you the small config file that turns it on. Nothing is injected and no game files are changed.
Every action goes through sideQuest's safety limits first: hard caps for strength and length, shocks off until you arm them, and STOP on every page.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11
- An XToys account with your toy connected
- One config file in CS2's cfg folder
Set up in three steps
After the one-time XToys setup, this is all CS2 needs.
Add the config file
Run SideQuest.exe --cs2-cfg > gamestate_integration_sidequest.cfg once and move the file into Counter-Strike 2's game\csgo\cfg folder. Then restart CS2.
Choose what you feel
Pick an action for each moment, like a vibration while you're flashed or a short shock when the round is lost.
Play
It works in every mode, from Deathmatch to Premier.
CS2 questions
Can this get me VAC banned?
Game State Integration is a feature Valve built into CS2 for third-party tools; it's the same thing RGB keyboards and stream overlays use. sideQuest doesn't inject anything or read the game's memory.
Where is the cfg folder?
In Steam, right-click Counter-Strike 2, choose Manage, then Browse local files. Open game, then csgo, then cfg.
Does it work when I'm spectating?
sideQuest reacts to the player your game reports as you, so nothing happens to you while you watch someone else.
