How it knows what happened
Minecraft Java Edition writes what happens into a log file: deaths, kills, advancements and chat. sideQuest reads that file as it grows. No mods, nothing to install, and it works in every game language, singleplayer, on servers and modded.
Every action goes through sideQuest's safety limits first: hard caps for strength and length, shocks off until you arm them, and STOP on every page.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11
- An XToys account with your toy connected
- Minecraft Java Edition (Bedrock writes no log, so it isn't supported)
Set up in three steps
After the one-time XToys setup, this is all Minecraft needs.
Turn on Minecraft
With the normal launcher there's nothing to set. With CurseForge, Prism or Modrinth, paste your instance folder.
Choose what you feel
Pick an action for each moment. Deaths can hit harder the more often you die, and challenge advancements harder than normal ones.
Let others play along
Set a trigger word, and anyone on the server who types it in chat sets off what you chose.
Minecraft questions
Does it work on servers?
Yes. Everything sideQuest needs ends up in your own log file, on servers as well as in singleplayer and with mods.
Why is there no damage event?
Minecraft doesn't write damage into its log, only deaths. Deaths, kills, advancements and chat all work.
Does it work with Bedrock Edition?
No. Bedrock Edition doesn't write a log file that sideQuest could read.
